ピアノの蓮池くんとベースの福間さんとは前から仲良くさせてもらってます。 ピアノの蓮池は、クラシックのショパンを重点的に演奏していた数年前から、確か…スクリャービンにハマって、僕とクラブに行くうちにLo-Fi Hiphopにハマってから、クラシックで自作曲のアルバムを出して、だんだんジャズに移行していくという、そこそこ不思議な人です。

彼のジャズも蓮池らしさをとどめつつ、唖然としてしまうほどにエレガントかつ情熱的なものなので乞うご期待。

ベースの福間さんはグランジが好きで、普段は五弦ベースで踊ってる感じの人です。アグレッシブでありながらもジャンルを選ばぬ、創造的なベースラインが僕が低音域に求める「ソレ」があります。

I’ve been close with Hasuike on piano and Fukuma on bass for a while now.

Renike, back in the day, was all about Chopin, playing classical pieces with total devotion. Then at some point—if I remember right—he got hooked on Scriabin, and after a few nights out clubbing with me, he fell into Lo-Fi Hip Hop. From there, he dropped a classical album of his own compositions, and slowly drifted into jazz. He’s kind of a strange one, in the best way.

His jazz still carries that distinct “Hasuike-ness,” but at the same time it’s so elegant and passionate it just leaves you stunned. Definitely something to look forward to.

Fukuma on bass is a grunge lover at heart, usually rocking a five-string and grooving hard. His lines are aggressive yet genre-free, and he always creates exactly the kind of low-end I crave.
